To learn more about the History of TCRC Read Below! In May 1971, a few people began to organize the first Vestal XX road race. However, that first race was "only" 12 miles. At the time women were not allowed in AAU races, but we didn't like that so put on the entry form: "Women welcome". Two women entered that year, one of whom was Kathrine Switzer who, in 1967, was the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon. She entered under "K. Switzer". Today the club is still flourishing, awarding scholarships, offering a shoe program to our young athletes, running a youth track program, and heading up quite a few TCRC races and all of that is possible because of the commitment and passion from our founders and 50 years of amazing members! Our Club hopes that we have paved the path for not only our local runners but also for women to race and run locally!.

Since our founding days, the purpose of the TCRC is to promote and support all avenues of running in our local area, and be a driving force in helping our running community to be united, strong, and continue to grow. We welcome runners of ALL abilities, whether you are a competitive racer, run for fitness, seasoned veteran, or just beginning; we are here to support everyone.
